1st Sgt Joseph C. Cochrane attended high school for one year before he joined the Regular Army on 26 December 1939. He was stationed in Wahiawa, Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1943 he was sent to Camp Maxis in Texas. Later he was sent to Camp Gruber in Oklahoma and Camp Meade before he was sent overseas in September 1944.
