Sgt Edward J. Strauss graduated from St. Basil's High School and was a salesman from the H.J. Heinz Company before he enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 10 July 1944. He was sent overseas in December 1944.His brothers Richard, Joseph, Philip and Charles also served during the war.
