Pfc William L. Grubbs was an employer at the Virginia State Highway Departement before he enlisted in Richmond, Virginia on 5 October 1942.
He was seriously wounded in action on 13 September when B Company received an enemy counter attack in the vicinity of Sainte–Géneviève, France.
