2nd Lt Maurice K. Collette attended the Pelham and Lawrenceville High School and Princeton University before he joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Newark, New Jersey on 30 July 1942.

He was reported seriously wounded in action and evacuated to a hospital on 27 November. At that time his unit was engaged in the fighting in the vicinity of Valmont and Altviller, France.
