Pvt John D. Blair attended 3 years of high school and was a shipping clerk before he enlisted in Erie, Pennsylvania on 27 August 1943.

He was reported seriously wounded in action in the vicinity of Bratte, France on 11 October and brought to a hospital where he died of his wounds.
