Pfc Carroll B. Rauch attended high school for two years and worked on a farm before he joined the Regular Army at Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina on 5 September 1940.

He was reported lightly wounded in action on 5 September 1944 in Le Bénélod les Roc Mousson.

He is also remembered at the Mount Horeb Lutherian Church Cemetery in Chapin, Lexington County, South Carolina.
