Pvt Carl I. Osivnik attended high school for two years and was a stock clerk before he enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 29 April 1944.He was reported seriously wounded in action and evacuated to a hospital on 26 November. At that time his unit was engaged in the fighting in the vicinity of Laudrefang, France.
