Pvt Hugh G. Richmond was a farmhand before he enlisted at Fort Bliss, El Paso Texas on 4 June 1944.

His older brother Cpl Ohmer O. Richmond was taken prisoner by the Japanese and died on 6 June 1942. He is buried in the American Military Cemetery and Memorial in Manila.
