Cpl Alton E. Franz worked for a WPA project before he enlisted in Denver, Colorado on 7 March 1944.

He was wounded in action and evacuated to a hospital on 25 November. At that moment his unit was engaged in a fighting in the vicinity of Faulquemont, France.
