Pvt Augustus P. Ultimo Jr. attended St. Joseph High School.

He enlisted in Springfield, Massachusetts on 20 July 1943 and was sent overseas in August 1944.

He was slightly wounded in action on 16 January 1945 for which time he was hospitalized for a month in France and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
