Cpl Hugh W. Davies attended high school for two years and was a painter in construction and maintenance.

He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Los Angeles, California on 23 October 1942.

His parents were born in Wales.

Cpl Davis was initially buired in a temporary grave at Margraten on 28 March 1945. He was given his final resting place on 5 May 1949.
