Pvt Lawrence E. Brookings Jr. was aboard a C-46, that was scheduled to drop his passengers onto Drop Zone X. However, smoke on the ground caused the unit to be dropped 1.5 miles north of the drop zone between two railway lines east of the Diersfordt Forest and west of Hamminkeln.He is remembered at the Oakland Cemetery in Monticello, Arkansas.
