Pfc Lee W. Allen attended attended Berwick High School and worked in the production of beverages. His grandfather and grandmother James Trash and Alice C. Trash were his legal guardians.He joined the Regular Army in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 12 September 1940. He served three years in the Quartermaster Corps at Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland before volunteering for the paratroopers.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
He is remembered at the Pine Grove Cemetery Annex in Berwick, Columbia County, Pennsylvania.
