Albert William Vendt, christened as Albert Friedrich Wilhelm was born in Germany and arrived in New York on 1 July 1926 when he was four years old. He became a US citizen in 1943.He was sent overseas in September 1944.
His brother Fred (Fritz) served with the 117th Infantry Regiment, 30th Infantry Division.
