S/Sgt Paul J. Tanner Jr. attended Central High School in Oklahoma City and was employed at the Austin American-Stateman's newspaper in the pressroom.He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Houston, Texas on 21 October 1942.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
