Sgt Carl F. Roehrich enlisted in New Haven, Connecticut on 15 April 1943. After his training to become a paratrooper, he was selected to be a jump instructor and eventually became a jumpmaster, charged with the training of new recruits. In just a few months he was promoted to Sergeant.
