Pfc James A. Brown graduated from North Tonawanda High School and attended Concordia Collegiate Institute.He enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 15 September 1943.
His remains were discovered in April 1945 and transferred to Ardennes Cemetery as Unknown X-53. He could be identified by dental charts and by the fact his name was inscribed in a field jacket and overcoat.
His remains showed severe wounds in the abdomen.
After the cemetery was given a permanent status he was given his final resting place on 9 March 1949.
The photo, showing James in football outfit and the group photo were taken at North Tonawanda High School. The photo with James on his friends schoulders was taken at Concordia Collegiate Institute. His dogtags were found at the battlefield and are now displayed at the Bastogne War Museum in Bastogne, Belgium.
