Louis Levasseur joined the Regular Army in Waco, Georgia on the 8 January 1940.His parents and oldest sister were born in Canada and moved to Maine in 1916.
His brother Constatin was also killed during WWII in Papua, New Guinea and is buried at the American Military Cemerery and Memorial in Manilla, The Philippines
