Cpl James M. Logan graduated from Norwalk High School, Class of 1941, at the age of 16. He attended Norwich University.

He volunteered for the Army of the United States at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 8 February 1943.

He was killed during an enemy artillery barrage after assisting a wounded companion into his foxhole.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
