Sgt Robert M. Thompson graduated from Russell High School in 1942 where he participated in the ROTC.He joined the Regular Army at Fort McPherson, Georgia on 16 November 1942 and was sent overseas in August 1944.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
