Thomas J. Maloney attended college and was a miner.He enlisted in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on 26 April 1941.
Maj Gen W.M. Miley, his division commander, wrote his parents that Lt Maloney was killed when a shell exploded near him.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
