More information

Cpl Walter E Patterson enlisted in Abilene, Texas on 10 July 1942. He received training at Camp Wallace and Fort Bliss in anti-aircraft artillery and did coastline guard duty at Newport News and Norfolk, Virginia. In October 1944 he was transferred to an infantry division to Camp Maxey and sailed from Fort Meade.

He died in an evacuation hospital in Germany on 14 March 1945 from wounds received in action on 11 March.

Cpl Patterson's name is also on the Foard County Veterans Memorial.
