Cpl Leo J. Nuprienok graduated from Kenosha High School in 1938 and later attended Tri-State College in Indiana. He moved to the Panama Canal Zone in 1940 to work as a civilian engineer.He enlisted in October 1942 and trained at Little Rock, Arkansas, Houston, Texas and Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
He was married to Mary, a member of the Women's Army Corps, married in April 1944 and was sent overseas in October of the same year.
His parents were immigrants from Poland and started a new life in America in 1910.
