Before the war, Clarence W. Mc Allister served with Coast Artillery of the Regular Army for three years at Fort Monroe, Virginia. After his discharge in 1936, he was employed at the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company in Pittsburgh.He reenterred on 15 February 1941. After training at Coyne Radio School in Chicago and at several other places, he was gradudated from Officers Candidate School on 6 December 1944. He was sent overseas a month later.
