Pfc Solomon D. Mosner enlisted in Camp Upton Yaphank, New York on 6 April 1944.

He attended Bryant High School in New York City and was a student at New York University for three terms prior to entering the Army. He received honors in Advanced Chemistry, Advanced Biology, Plane Geometry, Intermediate Algebra, and Modern European History. He was sent overseas in September 1944.
