S/Sgt William E. Baxley was a painter in construction and maintenance before he enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 19 August 1941.

His remains were found in Germeter and initially registered as Unknown X-5636. He was evacuated to Ardennes Cemetery and could be identified at the idenitification center.
