Pvt Elliott R. Corbett II attended Thacher College in Ojai, California and Harvard University.

He joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Cambridge, Massachusetts on 7 October 1942 and was sent overseas on 8 October 1943.

He was reported missing in action on 19 November 1944 near the abbey of Mariawald, Germany. He was found wounded by German soldiers on 22 November 1944 and taken to the abbey. According to a POW record, he died of his wounds the same day. He was initially buried at the German military cemetery of the village.

After his remains were evacuated to Margraten, he was initially buried in a temporary grave on 25 May 1945. After the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place on 7 January 1949.

His gravestone and American records show the date of his death as 19 November 1944.

He is also remembered at the River View Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
