Pvt Haden Combs was employed by the Inland Container Corporation before he enlisted at Fort Thomas, Newport, Kentucky on 3 March 1942. He was sent overseas in October 1943.

He was initially buried at the temporary American Military Cemetery of Fosse, Belgium.
