Pfc Donald E. Hoeft attended the University of Minnesota and was employed by the General Mills Inc., before he enlisted in January 1944.

He was initially buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Fosse, Belgium.

He is also remembered at the Sunset Memorial Park, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
