Sgt Elmer S. Beck joined the National Guard in Milton, Pennsylvania on 17 February 1941.Sgt Beck was last seen when German forces launched a strong counter-attack after his squad had taken Hill 515.
He was officially declared dead one year and one day after he was reported missing in action.
