Pvt John J. Malm graduated from North High School, Wormcester, Mount Hermon School, Northfield, Massachusetts and Burdette College, Boston, Massachusetts, where his fraternity was Delta Nu Omega. He was a member of Center Dodge, No. 97, A.F. & A.M., of this city.

Before enlisting in New Haven, Connecticut on 15 January 1944, he was assiocoated with the Niles, Bement, Pond Division of Pratt and Whitney. His basic training was received at Camp Blanding, Florida.

Pvt John J. Malm is remembered at Old Swedish Cemetery in Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts with a memorial marker.
