2nd Lt William D. Murphy was married to Mary Elsie Dority on 1 May 1943 in Georgia and the following month Mrs. Murphy, an army nurse left for duty in the Pacific theater of war. 2nd Lt Murphy was sent overseas six months before his death. They had not seen each other since shortly after their marriage.
