Cpl Earl J. Nimtz attended Southside High School in Elmira, New York and was employed by American-La France-Foamite Corporation.He enlisted in Syracuse, New York on 17 April 1941 and served 26 months in Newfoundland and returned to the United States before going to Europe.
Cpl Nimitz is remembered at Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, Chemung County, New York with a memorial marker.
