More information

S/Sgt John D. Adair enlisted at Fort Sill, Oklahoma on 13 November 1942.

He participated in an attack on a machine gun position, 1000 yards Southeast of Beeck on 23 November 1944. This is the date he went missing in action. He was officialy declared dead on 25 November 1945.

The IDPF contains a witness statement of T/Sgt Novie L. Hammac of the same company of S/Sgt Adair:
"The last time I saw Sgt Adair, he was crawling in a beet field in the direction of an enemy machine gun position. The time was about 0735, 13 November 1944 in the vicinity of Beeck, Germany."

The IDPF contains also the statement of pvt Younger B. Blount. He stated that while he was stationed in the 78th Field Hospital on 27 February 1945, he saw a list of patients who had been in the hospital and the name of S/Sgt Adair appeared on that list. Pfc Blount did not see S/Sgt Adair in person and did not know what happened to him.
