102nd Ozark Division. Sgt Bennett D. Hites Jr. died of wounds sustained in Germany near the Rur river.Sgt. Bennett Dale Hites, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bennett D. Hites, 6307 Leighton, and former student of the University of Nebraska, died Feb. 28 from wounds received in Germany, Feb. 23, his parents were informed from Washington Sunday morning.
A week ago the family received word that he had been seriously wounded and had been removed to a hospital.
He went overseas in October of 1944.
In 1930 he family lived in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska and a few years later moved to Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa. In 1940 they resided in Yavapai County, Arizona.
Bennett D. Hites Jr. is memorialized on a memorial in the center of Prescott, Arizona.
