1st Lt William R. Ault attended Kent State College for his undergraduate work, receiving his A.B. and B.S. degree from that school before entering Law School at DukeUniversity. While at Duke he was a member of the Bar Association and sang in the Memorial Church Choir.He trained at Camp McClellan, Alabama and then attended Officers Canditate School at Fort Benning, Georgia and was sent overseas in June 1944.
On 4 November 1944 he was wounded in the Netherlands and sent to France. He was recovered from his wounds before Christmas and rejoined his unit.
