Pfc William K. Jackson enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 15 April 1944.

Morning Report for 23 February 1945: "We had received all of our reinforcements, and all of our men were fully equipped for the (Roer River) crossing which was finally set to take place on 23 February. At 0245 on the morning of 23 February the Artillery preparation for the crossing began, lasting until 0330 -- the time at which the Battalion 'jumped off'."

William was killed in the first wave across the Roer river at Düren, Germany, on the first day of Operation Grenade along with 4 other Company I men.
