More information

T/Sgt James L. Berg came to Aitkin, Minnesota, with his family when he was just a child. He attended the Spencer school. Before entering the army in July, 1941, he was engaged in farming with his father. He took his basic infantry training at Camp Swift, Texas, going later to Fort Sam, Houston, Texas, and Camp Polk, Louisiana. At Camp Coxcomb, California, he took his desert training, later going to Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. His last furlough was spent at home in April 1944. In August he landed in England and soon afterwards was sent to France. It is believed that he had been in combat about a month.

He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Limey, France.
