Sgt Elmer C. Ralston enlisted in Kalamazoo, Michigan on 6 November 1942. He was sent overseas in September 1944.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the stomach.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Grand-Failly, France.
