Pfc Lloyd O. Rumsey attended college for one year and worked on a farm before he enlisted in Tulsa, Oklahoma on 19 November 1942.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Limey, France.
