T/4 Bell enlisted at Fort Leavenworth on 29 February 1944.He was killed by mortar fire when Bell and three other men had gone to retrieve a tank bogged in a bomb crater.
He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement and service during the period from 6 June 1944 to 7 November 1944 in France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany.
He is remembered at the Tracy Cemetery in Pineville, Missouri.
