Everett Myers attended East Junior High School.He enlisted on 5 May 1941, received his basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington and his gunnery training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He left for overseas duty in November 1943.
He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal posthumously for meritorious achievement and service from 19 June 1944 to 15 November 1944 in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
On many occasions he went forward through heavy enemy fire to repair guns in the front lines and distinguished himself by outstanding performance of duty as an artillery mechanic during a long and difficult period of military operations, the citation accompenying the award stated.
At 2.45 AM an enemy airplane dropped several bombs. A direct hit on one of the houses, occupied by the Service Company, killed 8 men, all members of Battalion Maintenance Platoon.
T/4 Myers was with his unit since its activation in Fort Lewis, Washington on 16 May 1942.
