S/Sgt Robert W. Stuart graduated from Watertown High School in 1943 and worked as a night desk copy boy at the Boston Globe newspaper.

He joined the Regular Army in Boston, Massachusetts on 28 May 1943. He was sent overseas in August, 1944.
