Sgt Joseph E. Dufek graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1942 and attended NYA school in Marinette. He was employed at the Bremerton Navy Yard in the state of Washington.He volunteered for the U.S. Army in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 10 December 1942. He trained at Camp Phillips, Kansas; Camp Forrest, Tennessee and Camp McCain, Mississippi. He was sent overseas in August, 1944.
