2nd Lt Donald L. Renck attended high school for 4 years and was a carpenter before he joined the National Guard in Anderson, Indiana on 17 January 1941.

A burst of machinegun fire from a wooden bunker that had been used by L Company as a command post, killed Lt Renck and injured several others as they emerged from the ditch.

Lt Renck is remembered with a memorial marker at Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner, Poinsett County, Arkansas.
