Just after the target, the aircraft was hit by prop wash and fell out of formation. E/A immediately concentrated their attacks on this A/C, and it began to struggle. Six chutes were seen to come out of the A/C before it was seen to explode at approximately 1328 hours. S/Sgt Milillo bailed out and was last seen dead on the ground near Gotha, Germany.

S/Sgt Millilo was first buried at a local cemetery on 26 February 1944. He was later re-buried at the Ardennes American War Cemetery.
