More information

Sgt Albert A. Nome attended Mishawaka High School until his junior year, but quit to enlist on 4 February 1943. He was sent overseas one year later to the day.

At 1101 hours, aircraft 471 was attacked by fighters, peeled to the left with #3 engine on fire and spreading to fuselage. Two men bailed out and chutes opened. The plane then went into a spin and exploded, going into the clouds.

Sgt Albert A. Nome is remembered at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, La Porte County, Indiana.
