More information

Sgt Wiley W. Haynes Jr. enlisted at Fort McPherson Atlanta, Georgia, on 13 November 1942.

Just after the target, the aircraft was hit by prop wash and fell out of formation. E/A immediately concentrated their attacks on this A/C, and it began to struggle. Six chutes were seen to come out of the A/C before it was seen to explode at approximately 1328 hours. Sgt Haynes bailed out.

He was first buried at a local cemetery on 26 February 1944.
