Pvt Clarence A. Schaeg was a fruit and vegetable grader and packer at the Max-Tex Produce Company before he joined the National Guard in San Benito, Texas on 25 November 1940.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Hochfelden, France.

He is remembered at the Saint Pauls Lutheran Church Cemetery in Wildwood, Missouri.
