Pvt Jesse C. Wyldes was employed at the Rock Island Railroad Company before he enlisted at Camp Dodge, Iowa on 19 April 1944. He was sent overseas in October 1944.

He was declared officially dead one day and one year after he was reported missing in action. At that time his unit was fighting in the vicinity of Riquewihr, France.

He is remembered at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.

His brother Howard is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery.
